Manatee County Commissioner Michael Gallen will run for re-election to the board's District 2 seat.
Gallen, a Democrat and the vice chairman of the commission, filed documents with the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections for a re-election run, according to the elections office website.
The countywide election is set for Nov. 4, 2014.
Gallen, a Bradenton native and resident, was elected to his seat in 2010.
He also is an attorney and a former teacher at Lakewood Ranch High School.
At-large Commissioner Carol Whitmore, a Republican, also is up for reelection.
She has not officially announced whether she will seek a third term in office.
