Five East County schools are gearing up to send their most tech-savvy students to national competition.
The Manatee County School District is sending more than 120 students to the National TSA (Technology Student Association) Conference June 28 through July 2 in Denver, Colo.
Lakewood Ranch High School, which finished second in the state during the Florida Technology Student Association Conference in April, will be sending students as will Braden River High School.
Haile Middle School placed third overall in the middle school competition at the state conference.
Nolan and Braden River middle schools also will be sending students.
Other Manatee County schools participating include Southeast and Manatee high schools and Buffalo Creek and Johnson middle schools.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
