Chabad of Bradenton will host an observance of the 15th anniversary of the passing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, obm, this week.

The central event in Manatee County will be a Farbrengen at 7:30 p.m., June 24, at Chabad Jewish Center, 11509 Palmbrush Trail.

Schneerson worked from his Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he served as a consultant for prime ministers and celebrities on everything from personal dilemmas to international affairs. Now, his influence continues through a network of more than 3,330 Chabad institutions in 72 countries, including one in Lakewood Ranch.

"The Rebbe was one of the greatest giants of this past century, serving as an inspiration to countless numbers of people," said Chabad Exeutive Director Rabbi Mendy Bukiet. "It is befitting to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the Rebbe, obm, on the anniversary of his passing, by reflecting on his powerful teachings — on spirituality, faith and ethics — and applying them to our daily lives."

Attendees of the local celebration will join hundreds of thousands across the globe in marking this anniversary in a myriad of ways including prayer, Torah study, spiritual outreach efforts, musical tributes and lectures.
