In the space formerly occupied by Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, a sign went up in the window Thursday afternoon, announcing that Big Olaf Creamery and Yoder’s Amish Shoppe will soon be offering its signature sweets to East County residents.
“To say we’re excited is an understatement,” Lakewood Ranch Commercial Realty President Brian Kennelly said. “This has been one of the spots on the street people have truly missed having a merchant in.”
Big Olaf founders Dennis and Nancy Yoder will come out of retirement to open the store, which they started in 1982.
The location will offer Big Olaf’s traditional hand-scooped ice creams, as well as Amish made bread, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes, jams, jellies, meat, cheese and more.
An opening is expected in mid-August.
