Schroeder-Manatee Ranch is launching a new GPS checkout program this weekend.
Visitors to the Ranch’s Information Center at 6220 University Parkway can now check out a GPS navigation unit or use their own system to input SMR’s information to more easily find model homes and other amenities in the community.
The GPS units are marked with destination points within the community, including all model homes, area parks and schools, the Sarasota Polo Club, shopping areas and other destinations, said Leah Blair, public relations specialist for SMR.
“We understand that when someone hands you a map with 30 models listed, it can be very confusing,” Blair said. “We just want to make it as simple as possible. Because the Ranch has grown so much and it is such a large area, it is kind of hard to navigate.”
The program is free and guests can check out GPS systems using a credit card or driver license.
SMR has been working on the concept for the last few months and expects to add destination points in the coming months as it gets feedback from visitors, Blair said.
The information center is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
