East County developers may soon see some financial relief from county impact fees, a move county officials hopes will spur the economy.
In response to the recession, the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is set to vote Tuesday on a two-year 50% reduction of transportation impact fees.
Under a proposed ordinance, the new impact fee structure would begin July 27 and end July 27, 2011.
Reductions only will apply to developments whose applications were received by the county on or after Jan. 1, 2009.
During the two-year period, the county also will conduct a study of road impact fees. Modifications will be made at its conclusion.
The board also is expected to approve the Manatee County School Board's decision not to levy any educational impact fees for the same time period.
