Work on a new maintenance facility for Lakewood Ranch's community development districts is under way, with Inter-District Authority staff looking for cost-saving opportunities as construction progresses.
During an agenda review workshop this morning, IDA Operations Director Ryan Heise told supervisors he will present to changes to the bid — the removal of a cistern and of some irrigation — at next month's meeting. The changes are expected to save the IDA more than $70,000 on the project.
"We are having weekly coordination meetings with the engineer and the contractor," Heise said. "The contractor has been extremely responsive with getting this project under way."
Magnum Builders of Sarasota broke ground on the project March 25.
