The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will consider joining forces with Sarasota County and the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Association to submit a preliminary bid to host the 2017 World Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park.
Under the proposal, Manatee County would expend $1.1 million over a five-year period, matching the amount Sarasota will spend.
Costs are preliminary.
A budget amendment would appropriate $277,000 from reserves in the Tourist Development Fund for the 2013 fiscal year portion of the costs.
Other items under consideration include a proclamation commending students of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Lakewood Ranch, for their efforts and to show support for their goal of improving the health of Manatee County residents.
