KB Home has agreed to pay for the temporary relocation of Willowbrook residents whose properties require repairs, Sen. Bill Galvano said Thursday.

After meeting with residents of Willowbrook, state health officials and KB Home President George Glance over the last few weeks, Galvano is also encouraging homeowners to get mold testing for their homes, the senator said in a press release.

KB Home will pick up that tab as well.

Willowbrook officials have selected an independent, licensed contractor to perform the mold testing.Residents should contact the community’s board of directors for information on scheduling a mold test.

In their meeting, Glance acknowledged mistakes in construction, Galvano said.

KB Home has an open-ended agreement backed by an escrow account with funds designated for remediation and repairs.

In addition, Galvano has arranged to receive weekly updates from Glance about the progress of repairs at Willowbrook.

In August, a group of homeowners in Willowbrook began putting public pressure on the community’s developer, KB Homes, to correct structural and other issues, which were causing water to leak into homes, among other problems.

Willowbrook’s homeowners association worked out a confidential settlement agreement with KB in September; they jointly selected DueAll Construction to complete work.

Residents were displeased with the pace of the work, before Galvano stepped in.
