State Senator Bill Galvano to visit Willowbrook community today

Senator Bill Galvano will visit East County’s Willowbrook community today to gauge the progress of repairs to its homes.
Residents have reported issues of sinking floors, separating window frames, wall moisture and mold due to water intrusion from balconies.
At a Manatee County Board of County Commissioners meeting Oct. 30, county building department officials blamed the structural problems on KB Home, the development’s builder.
During that meeting, John Barnott, director of the county’s building and development services, reported findings of county inspections and blamed the community’s issues on “weatherproofing and quality-of-construction issues that are not subject to the building code.”
Galvano, who served in the Florida House of Representatives since 2002, until being elected to the Senate in November, visited First Watch in Lakewood Ranch last month, when Willowbrook residents asked Galvano to push for a lemon law for housing.
In September, the Willowbrook Condominium Association hired DueAll Construction to make repairs.
However, residents still complain about faulty repair work and say nothing has changed.
At the time the repairs began, DueAll offered no timetable for its completion.
Today, Galvano will evaluate the grounds himself.
