More than 1,550 swimmers, ranging in age from 18-97, hit the pool for the 2013 Pan-American Masters Championships June 1-13, at the Selby Aquatic Center in Sarasota. The event, which was held in the United States for the first time, drew swimmers from 22 different countries to compete in synchronized swimming, swimming and open water competition.

The Manatee County School Board decided to outsource legal issues to Dye, Deitrich, Petruff & St. Paul of Bradenton to replace current school board attorney John Bowen who retires June 30.

The Sarasota Crew Men's Varsity 8+ team won the gold medal June 7-9, at the 2013 USRowing Youth National Championships.
