Bill Germanakos, winner of the fourth season of "The Biggest Loser" television series, will give two free motivational speeches Wednesday.
Germanakos, who lost 164 pounds, will speak from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Jan. 20 in the first-floor chambers of the Manatee County Government Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, about his success on the show.
He will speak again from 4-5:30 p.m., at the Judicial Center Jury Assembly Room, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
During the televised “Biggest Loser” competition, Germanakos lost 49.1% of his starting body fat, dropping from 334 pounds to 170 pounds.
This week, Germanakos also will visit several Manatee County worksites to kickoff the Manatee County Health Plan’s own “Biggest Loser Competition.”

Members and guests of the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club ventured Dec. 4 to Orlando, to view holiday decorations at the Grand Floridian and to have lunch at Downtown Disney.

Catapulting into first place
Seven Manatee County elementary schools competed in the countywide Technology Student Association catapult competition Nov. 16, at Southeast High School. Students built the catapults on-site.
