Supervisors on Lakewood Ranch Community Development District 5 voted 3-2 to allow transponder-only access via the Players Drive gate to select residents in Lakewood Ranch Country Club East.
Following today's vote, up to 100 transponders will be issued to platinum members of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club who live in Country Club East.
The issue has been one of ongoing debate for several months, with supervisors previously denying access.
Supervisors also are moving forward with proposed traffic safety improvements at the gate, to lesson concerns of Country Club West residents, particularly those in the Presidio, Riviera and Mizner Reserve neighborhoods.
