Kids R Kids throws one last summer splash

Students in Lakewood Ranch Kids R Kids' summer camp ended the season on a wet and wild note during the camp's Water Day. The special day featured a several huge waterslides. The students all were able to take turns on them before the rain arrived later in the day, says Kids R Kids owner Gregg Kinney.

East County families splashed away thoughts of summer during the Lakewood Ranch Community Activities’ annual Back to School Splash Bash event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Aug. 29 at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA. Activities include swimming competitions, water slides, a dunk tank and a barbecue lunch, among others.

East County residents sampled global cuisine from Russia to Japan during the Around the World Progressive Dinner Aug. 19 on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch. Led by Polo Grill and Bar co-owner Jaymie Klauber, the more than 20 guests in attendance dined at Astoria Fine Russian Cuisine, Saijo Sushi, MacAllister's Grill and Tavern, Ed's Tavern, the Polo Grill and Paris Bistrot.
Camp Flying Eagle unveils new challenge course

Local Boy Scout leaders invited the public for a special open house at Camp Flying Eagle from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 15. The morning’s activities included ribbon-cutting ceremonies for several new amenities as well as demonstrations on the new Harlan Challenge Course, among others.
