University Park Women's Club met at Lido Beach for a gourmet picnic Oct. 2. Jackie Harding conceived of the idea and did all the cooking for this fabulous meal. The weather was perfect, and the University Park women and their guests enjoyed a beautiful night on the beach.

East County residents celebrated cancer survivors and their families during the first Night of Pink & White Oct. 24 at the Fête Ballroom at The Polo Grill. Attendees donned pink and white as they enjoyed a Cinderella-style ball.
Harvest hosts kids' day at pumpkin patch

Harvest United Methodist Church held a special Kids Day at the Patch from 10 a.m. to noon, Oct. 24, during the church’s annual pumpkin patch event. Activities included face painting, games and time to hunt for the perfect pumpkin.

Out-of-Door Academy students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni celebrated the school's Homecoming with a picnic before the Homecoming game Oct. 23 at Twin Lakes Park. The Thunder community showed its blue and white spirit as the home team defeated Bradenton Christian 17-7.

Little Bookworms celebrated the premiere of the "Where the Wild Things Are" movie with a Wild Rumpus event Oct. 17. After reading the the classic book, kids decorated noise-makers for a Wild Rumpus parade to the fountain on Main Street.

Dancing group to host fundraiser
