Little Bookworms celebrated its fifth anniversary with a birthday bash Feb. 27. Eager readers flooded the Lakewood Ranch shop and enjoyed a variety of activities, including magic, storytime, arts and crafts, and, of course, birthday cake.
Freedom dads, daughters share special night

More than 100 families hit the dance floor for Freedom Elementary School's annual Father/Daughter Dance Feb. 26 at the school. Dads and grandfathers boogied to a variety of tunes while colorful lighting and refreshments completed the atmosphere.

Pugs on Parade

Dozens of pugs and their owners gathered at Adventure Park in Greenbrook for the annual Pug Parade Feb. 20. Owners and their furry friends paraded around in costume, perused booths from local vendors and attended a wedding, among other activities.

Nearly 200 members of the of the Manatee and Sarasota Chambers of Commerce geared up for the 2010 baseball season during their annual Meet the Rays Luncheon Feb. 17 at the Fete Ballroom. Guests enjoyed lunch by the Polo Grill, a meet and greet with some of the Tampa Bay Rays management and pitching staff and an autograph session.

Preschool students at the Goddard School rang in the Chinese New Year with a special celebration Feb. 16. Wah Lum Kung-Fu of Southwest Florida performed a Lion Dance and demonstrated Kung Fu Forms during the event.
Business Alliance celebrates Valentine's Day with polo

Dozens of members of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance gathered at the Sarasota Polo Club to celebrate Valentine's Day with an afternoon of socializing and polo. Attendees mingled and networked with other local business professionals, tailgated and watched a polo match. All women in attendance received a rose to celebrate the holiday.

Braden River Elementary School girls enjoyed a magical evening with their fathers and grandfathers during the school's Father/Daughter Dance Feb. 12. The cafetorium was transformed into an enchanted dance floor, and a deejay kept attendees grooving all night.
