East County 'makes strides' against breast cancer

Cascades residents Phyllis Bowling, Carole Friedman and Rose Tanzilli proudly wore their team "Cascaders" T-shirts. -
Survivor Barbara Gurley led her team in a conga line across the starting line. -
Angeline Hale walked with her daughter Jaime, 10, and dog, Maxi. -
Violeta Huesman, Michelle Mohr and Dotty Mohr were eager to get started. -
Family and friends of Jennifer Smith walked in her honor. The group's name was "Jenny's Journey." -
Bambi Kaine walked with her daughter Sarah Crossan, 12. -
Watercrest resident Barbie Osterling is going on her 13th year as a survivor. -
Artist Fred Stern helped create this natural rainbow for walkers to enjoy.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
