East County residents joined in a mission to assist financially-challenged pet owners during a special golf tournament this weekend.
Bailey's Buddies Charitable Pet Foundation held its inaugural golf tournament Oct. 6, at Tara Golf and Country Club.
Founded in 2012 by Leah Secondo and Judi Kaffeian in memory of their dog, Bailey, the organization works with area veterinary hospitals in aiding financially-challenged canine owners when they learn their dog has cancer. The foundation also supports educational efforts related to canine cancer, treatment of the disease, providing access to care and funding research and education for canine cancer.
