SUBMISSION SPOTLIGHT
Each week, we’ll profile our favorite submission of the week. This week’s featured entry is “First Game” submitted by Cathy Lovine of Sarasota. Lovine’s husband, Mike, took this photo of their 3-year-old grandson, Peyton Schroeder, at his very first baseball game seeing the Sarasota Reds at Ed Smith Stadium. Schroeder received the glove for his third birthday several days before the game last July.
“To me it is truly a red, white and blue moment in many ways,” says Lovine. “He is excited about the game, optimistic about catching a fly ball with his new glove and nothing is better than enjoying the freedom of an American evening at the ballpark. I think the photo represents the kid in all of us — the true ‘Spirit of America.’ And, he’s just so darn cute!”
