After more than 30 years selling music equipment and other items from her store in Bradenton, Sharie Shultz never dreamed she’d open another store.
But she has.
On April 5, Shultz, owner of Keyboards & More, opened a second location in Ranch Lake Plaza, with a live piano concert by musician Sammy Lane. Festivities have continued all week. Today’s event is a give-away for a Yamaha guitar. And from 3-7 p.m., April 9, the store will celebrate School Music Teacher Appreciation Day by donating 10% of any purchase back to the customer’s school of choice.
“There’s a need (to fill) and that’s what we’ve been doing for 32 years,” Shultz said. “We’re already servicing six schools (within a few miles). We’re excited.”
The new storefront may have a more classy and contemporary feel than its sister store, but it still offers the same instrument rentals, repairs and sales for which it has gained a reputation since Keyboards & More opened in 1978.
Shultz said the new location has a larger variety of digital pianos from which to choose, as well as a wider selection of guitars, including the new Sierra brand.
The company does not yet have space to accommodate lessons in house, but its owners are working on securing space to offer lessons in the East County, Shultz said.
