Area residents hit the streets for children

Dozens of teens and adults participated in the 10K Run/Walk, which wove through the streets of Lakewood Ranch. -
Ten-year-old Maddie Mirandilla was one of the first children to cross the finish line in the Fun Run. -
Race partners Nicole Clark, Sandi Taylor, Nick Clark, Jeanni White and Susan Farhat -
Emily Wray and Natalie Novak run cross country and track for Lakewood Ranch High School. -
Six-year-old Josie Kolbe made sure to keep a keen eye on her competition. -
Jodi Mailman, Jamey Murphy and Theresa Young are all avid runners. -
Olivia Yagey, 6, pictured with her mom, Antoinette, came out to cheer on her dad, Jerry. -
Terry Freer, 9, pictured with his sister, Niki, 11, mom, Maria, and Mary Searing and Jeanne Moore was eager for the race to begin.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
