The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
LAKEWOOD RANCH
Nov. 10
9:15 a.m. — 12125 44th Ave. E. (Gullett Elementary). Found property. School staff confiscated from a student a $10 bill that appeared to be counterfeit.
Reported Nov. 10
2:46 p.m. — 1605 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (SunTrust Bank). Uttering forged checks. The complainant reported an individual passed a forged check at the bank. The account owners contacted the bank and informed SunTrust the check was not issued by them and that they never issued the check to the payee. Surveillance video of the suspect was submitted to property and evidence.
MANATEE OAKS
Nov. 9
1 p.m. — 5000 block of 30th Street Court East. Burglary to an occupied structure. The victim’s mother, who lives with the victim, was home alone when she heard three knocks on the front door. The complainant never answers the door and made no exceptions this time. A few minutes later, the complainant saw two males, who were either black or Hispanic, cutting the pool cage door and entering the pool cage. The victim’s two small dogs ran out a doggie door and the unknown persons fled over the northwest privacy fence, breaking it down. The persons then fled the scene in an unknown direction by unknown means.
MANDALAY
Reported Nov. 10
1:19 p.m. — 6100 block of 46th Street East. Lost property. The complainant reported he lost his passport in an unknown location in Manatee County. He presented an expired passport as identification. The complainant was issued a case number.
RIVER SOUND
Nov. 6
12:30 p.m. — 5300 block of Tide Point Way. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported an unknown person destroyed the flag on her mailbox. The flag was bent and twisted beyond repair. The complainant didn’t see or hear anything unusual during the time the incident occurred. The neighbor’s mailbox, which is on the same pole, also was damaged. The estimated cost to replace the mailbox is $200.
SARASOTA
Nov. 10
1:26 p.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). Felony petit theft. The deputy responded to the store in reference to a shoplifter who was fighting loss prevention. Once on scene, the deputy secured the suspect in handcuffs and pulled the stolen items off of him. The suspect then was placed in the back of the patrol car. The suspect stole two prepaid cell phones, three T-shirts and a pair of headphones. The total value of the merchandise is $132.76. The suspect was later observed moving around in the back of the patrol car. The deputy searched the area where he was sitting and recovered a crack pipe with brillo in it. The suspect, who had been swearing at the deputy and loss prevention, was transported to the Manatee County Jail without incident.
STONE CREEK
Nov. 9
9:30 p.m. — 3500 block of 27th Street Court East. Theft. Unknown person(s) took the victim’s boat and trailer from the side yard of his residence.
OTHER
Nov. 9
Noon — 5251 University Parkway (Fresh Market). Grand theft. The complainant reported a pallet of firewood was stolen from outside the business overnight. The estimated cost of the firewood is $500. The complainant doesn’t have a video available.
