11:35 a.m. — 2800 block of University Parkway. Theft and resisting a merchant. A white male entered the Publix and went to the seafood section. He selected $35 worth of shrimp and had it wrapped up, and then walked away from the seafood section. He stuffed the shrimp down the front of his pants. The male then attempted to walk out of the store when the meat manager confronted him. The male then grabbed the employee by the shoulder, shoved her out of the way and then ran away.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
