The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
10 p.m. — 6400 block of 98th Street E. Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. Unknown subject(s) entered the truck via its unlocked door and removed a cellular phone and a car charger. The total value of the stolen items is $120.
12 p.m. — 300 block of Cape Harbour Loop at Light House Cove. Criminal mischief. The victim reported her vehicle had been vandalized. The vehicle’s passenger window had been broken. The vehicle was parked outside the victim’s residence. The victim wasn’t home during the incident. The victim said there was nothing left behind by the person(s) who broke the window. The victim estimates the costs to be $200.
9 p.m. — 8488 Legacy Blvd. (Lakewood Ranch Tennis Center). Criminal mischief. The complainant stated at about 9:30 a.m., he observed an 11-inch-by-14-inch windowpane on the door to the Pro Shop had been shattered. The complainant stated the door opens to the outside, and it looks like an object was put through it. The complainant stated all of the glass shards were on the inside, and there was no visible object that went through the glass.
2:52 a.m. — 2885 University Parkway (Hess). Trespass warning. The responding deputy met with the complainant, who informed him he had asked the suspect to leave the store, and he refused to do so. The deputy informed the suspect that if he didn’t leave the store, he would be taken to jail. The suspect stated he understood and that he would leave the property. The suspect was then issued a formal trespass warning, which he understood. He then left the property.
9:15 a.m. — 8400 block of Louisiana Street. Missing juvenile. The juvenile was reported missing by his father after he didn’t come home that day. The juvenile was last seen riding a green Huffy bike to a friend’s house. At 4 p.m., he called his girlfriend and said he was on his way home, but he never showed up. The father was concerned and stated the juvenile is on probation and into drugs. The house was checked for the juvenile with negative results; and a message was left with the juvenile’s probation officer stating that he wasn’t home in time for his curfew.
Noon — 11100 block of Upper Manatee River Road Animal neglect (information). The deputy met with the owner of a horse named Sam. The food, water and shelter provided were photographed and information was obtained regarding the horse’s age and medical condition. The horse is 34 years old and has a hip disorder due to a break a number of years ago. The horse is under veterinarian care at Sarasota Equine. The owner will provide documents from the vet’s office next week. The deputy gave the horse a score of a low three in the Henesse Body Chart. Given the horse’s age, it does look good, but with the hip problems it would give unknown person(s) the illusion of a neglected horse. No further investigations are needed, and the deputy will wait until receiving documents to close the case, he said.
