5:20 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart). Grand theft: shoplifting. The defendant detained after he concealed Walmart merchandise and left the store without paying. He was brought back to the office and the merchandise was recovered. The responding deputy was out with the defendant about two hours earlier when he ducked behind a house in Manatee Oaks. The suspect and his friends said they were going to the Dollar Store. The deputy searched the suspect’s backpack at the time and only found a football. When the backpack was searched again in the office, it contained eight packages of some type of over-the-counter medication and an unopened Monster energy drink. The suspect was asked where he got it and he wouldn’t say. He did not have any receipts to prove he bought the items. The deputy placed him under arrest without incident.
The suspect was taken to the juvenile booking facility. While at the booking facility, a B.O.L.O. went out that the suspect was reported missing, so he was removed. The pills, the drink and the lighter were placed into property and evidence.
