Feb. 13
CLASSROOM INCIDENT
10:42 a.m. — 6200 block of River Club Boulevard. Battery. Two middle-school boys were in class when one of the boys struck the other in the groin area with a closed fist. The victim, who sustained bruising from the incident, said this was an unprovoked attack and that the culprit had been bullying him for a while. The culprit admitted to school officials he hit the victim in the groin and said he did it because the victim insulted his mother.
Feb. 14
Jewel thief
8:34 a.m. — 8330 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Larceny. A man receiving treatment at a hospital went into another room for surgery and left his jewelry unattended. When the man returned home from the hospital, he realized $36,201 worth of his jewelry was missing.
Feb. 17
Tools of the trade
1:26 p.m. — 6500 block of County Rode 675. Miscellaneous Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered a fenced property without unlocking the gate. Instead, the person(s) used the victim’s shovel to knock off the topside of the door latch and left the shovel leaning on the front door. Nothing was found missing.
Feb. 19
Anger management
11:17 a.m. — 6600 block of 33rd Street E. Suspicious Incidents. A manufacturing company owner reported that an employee has been throwing steel parts around the workplace, causing his coworkers to fear for their safety. When his coworkers try to calm the employee, he gets even angrier.
Feb. 20
Neighborly nuisance
1:49 p.m. — 3100 block of 54th Drive E. Criminal Mischief. A woman said her car was keyed during the night. She also said that she has been having problems with her neighbor. This is not the first experience she has had with car vandalism over those three weeks.
Pedal to the metal
6:14 p.m. — 6100 block of 13th Avenue E. Motor Vehicle Theft. Someone stole a trailer containing copper. A few days before the theft, a camera caught two men on the property, but the images only show the men’s silhouettes.
Misfire
2:05 p.m. — 5800 block of Ranch Lake Boulevard. Suspicious Incident. A deputy arrived at a department store in response to an unrelated call. Upon arrival, the deputy met with loss-prevention staff, who gave the deputy 20 mixed rounds of ammunition another employee found in the parking lot. The ammunition was properly packaged and placed into a secure locker.
