The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
LAKEWOOD RANCH
Feb. 9
Noon — 7700 block of British Open Way (pool area). Found wallet. The complainant reportedly found a wallet in the bushes near the pool. He called the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office to pick up the wallet. The responding deputy had dispatch try and contact the owner. The wallet was placed into property and the complainant received a copy of the property receipt.
Feb. 10
8:38 p.m. — 5500 block of Lorraine Road. Driving while license suspended (fifth offense). While en route to a dispatched call, the responding deputy observed a white truck swerving severely. After an investigation, the driver was arrested.
MYAKKA CITY
Feb. 9
1:30 p.m. — 31900 block of Clay Gully Road. Information only. The responding deputy received a letter that was sent to the sheriff’s office from the Mossy Hammock Homeowners Association in reference to some shooting going on in an orange grove next door to the subdivision. The deputy made contact with the manager of the Keystone grove. He also had received the same letter. The manager advised that it would not happen again. The deputy advised him of the liabilities of where the shooting was taking place and the potential dangers. The defendant stated he understood and no one will be allowed to be shooting out there again.
Reported Feb. 9
2 p.m. — 7500 block of 274th St. E. Uttering forged checks. The victim stated she believes the suspect made out checks from her bank account without her knowledge or permission.
SARASOTA
Feb. 9
9:29 a.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). Trespass warning. The suspect was in the store and got upset over a store policy. He made some statements that he was possibly going to attack members of Walmart’s staff. The complainant issued the suspect a trespass warning, and the suspect said he understood. The suspect was apparently upset that someone stole his identity and law enforcement is not doing enough to help him and he might have to take matters into his own hands. The suspect was told that would not be wise and that he would then become the person in trouble.
Feb. 10
1:22 p.m. — 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). Retail theft. The three female suspects reportedly went to the store and stole several items. All three suspects were arrested and taken to jail.
6:30 p.m. — 5205 University Parkway (Kohl’s). Retail theft. The complainant observed the defendant remove the tags off of several pairs of earrings and a pair of jeans and conceal them. The defendant then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. The defendant was taken to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office jail. The defendant was also given a trespass warning for the Kohl’s property.
OTHER
Feb. 9
12:01 a.m. — 1100 block of 154th St. NE. Burglary to a dwelling. Unknown person(s) entered the unsecured residence and stole several items before leaving in an unknown direction by unknown means. The total value of the stolen items is $1,358.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
