s/ART/q followed up this summer’s blockbuster, T-shirt screen-printing event with a less raucous, but no less impressive, exhibit of art Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, in downtown Sarasota.
The new artists group transformed the former DK Vogue furniture store on State Street into a contemporary-art gallery filled with work by Jeff Schwartz, Daniel Perales, Joseph Patrick Arnegger, Tim Jaeger, Tobey Albright, Ricky Otto, Brandon Maupin, Sabrina Small, Tom Stephens, David Piurek, Nathan Skiles, Brian Haverlock, Daniel Miller and James Evans.
At a special preview for private collectors Nov. 5, the group sold four pieces of work before the doors even opened.
“It’s been a dream,” said painter and cofounder Arnegger, who said that he spent 48 hours straight jazzing up the two-story temporary gallery for the exhibit.
The group plans to host another T-shirt screen-printing event in December and is currently combing the city for possible gallery space for an exhibit this spring.
