One Popcorn: Flop
Two Popcorns: Wait till it’s on video
Three Popcorns: Go see it
Four Popcorns: Standing ovation
Cast" Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, Catherine Keener, Michael Chernus, Corey Johnson
Director: Paul Greengrass
Comment: An all around outstanding motion picture. Riveting story line based on a real world, modern day, pirate event. It creates a "this is not a drill" suspension of disbelief like no other movie. Even though you may know the outcome, you are pulled in and truly experience what Captain Phillips and his crew experienced. Hanks hit it out of the park on this one and Barkhad Abdi, the Somali "Captain" pirate, could not have been more real.
'The Patience Stone'
Genre: Art House/Foreign Drama
Cast: Golshifteh Farahani, Hamidrez Javdan, Hassina Burgan, Massi Browat
Director: Atiq Rahimi
Comment: This one will grow on you. A bit slow, but it absorbs you in the behind the scenes dynamics of the fundamentalist Muslim Culture in Afghanistan. It illustrates the pressures on Muslim women in that oppressive culture as movies principal character confesses to her husband while she cares for I'm in a coma.
Genre: Family Drama
Cast: AJ Mochalka, James Denton, Kevin Pollak, Shawnee Smith, Michael Welch
Director: Brad J Silverman
Comment: A well done Christian-based family movie. The critics hated it so you will love it. A real "feel gooder" with a worthy message. Great music too!
