"Millions of details go into planning an opening night gala," says Jim Reid. "There’s this huge buildup of expectations. So much has to be coordinated." The opera’s 2010 opening night gala will follow Pietro Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” one of Reid’s favorite operas.
