It was an audience member, in Mertz Theatre with the ticket stubs — or, it could be this exact scenario for this weekend’s best bet: “The Game’s Afoot.”
“The Game’s Afoot” is a murder-mystery farce about theater people, written by Ken Ludwig, the man responsible for “Moon Over Buffalo” and “Lend Me A Tenor.” It’s about American actor William Gillette, who played the role of Sherlock Holmes. He invites his cast-members over for a dinner party, when events go awry and a guest is mysteriously stabbed to death. Gillette takes on the characteristics of Sherlock Holmes to solve the crime before the next victim gets claimed.
The Asolo Rep show opens 8 p.m. tonight at Asolo Rep and runs through May 12. Tickets are $20 to $75. Call 351-8000 for more information.
