ODA celebrates 2009 Homecoming

Out-of-Door Academy students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni celebrated the school's Homecoming with a picnic before the Homecoming game Oct. 23 at Twin Lakes Park. The Thunder community showed its blue and white spirit as the home team defeated Bradenton Christian 17-7.
YMCA brews up fall fun

Gullett students frolic into fall

Dozens of B.D. Gullett Elementary School students and their families packed into the school's cafeteria Oct. 22 for the school's 2nd annual Fall Frolic. The students dined on pizza, cookies and Dippin' Dots before hitting the dance floor and getting their pictures taken in the pumpkin patch.

Palm-Aire reopens Lakes Course

Members of Palm-Aire Country Club celebrated the re-opening of the Lakes Course after it was closed all summer for renovations. The members played a Red, White and Blue Tournament with a Twist, which was followed by an American barbecue and entertainment.
Ranch's Hesselberg named among Great 100 Nurses

Dr. Bonnie Hesselberg, SCF Lakewood Ranch provost and dean of nursing at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, was recognized by the SCF District Board of Trustees at an October meeting for being named among Great 100 Nurses by the Florida Nurses Association.
Schools to benefit United Way with exercise campaign

Dancing group to host fundraiser
