The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art's Opening Night Gala 2006 for the Historic Asolo Theatre was comparable to a New York City Metropolitan Opera Premiere. Guests dusted off their tuxes and donned their most exquisite gowns for the $1,000-per person party on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Historic Asolo Theatre. The champagne and cocktails were flowing in the new Visitor Center lobby while hors d'oeuvres were being passed. A trumpet fanfare signaled guests that it was time for the opening night gala performance featuring Metropolitan Opera start Susan Graham, lyric soprano Kristin Clayton and renowned composer Jake Heggie. Following the performance, guests returned to the lobby, Treviso Restaurant dining room and lakeside terraces where tables had been set up for dinner while the performance took place. After guests enjoyed the dinner, which featured the traditional cuisine of Asolo, Italy, they took to their feet for a finale of dancing. The evening was chaired by Talbot "Sandy" D'Alemberte and produced by Scott George.
