The Bird Key Yacht Club looked more like Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, Jan. 6. Red and black Japanese silk drapes, lanterns, Buddha statues, lion-dog sculptures and more transformed the private club for "Vic and Lizzie's Japanese Adventure" - the debutante party of Victoria Dumbaugh and Elizabeth Hamlet. Each debutante is required to host a party for her fellow debutantes, friends and family. The party, hosted by the girls' parents, John and Barbara Dumbaugh, and John and Ashley Hamlet, gathered a crowd of geishas, ninjas and kabukis for the evening that included cocktails and hors d'oeuvres (sushi, of course), dinner and dancing and a debutante presentation of the 2006-2007 Debutantes. The debutante program benefits the Florida West Coast Symphony's youth orchestra programs.
