The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall's Grand Foyer smelled delicious on Thursday, Dec. 7 for the Junior League of Sarasota's cookbook launch ? "Simply Sarasota: Creatively Casual Cuisine." Chefs from different restaurants created food from recipes in in the cookbook. Stacey Corely and Tanya Foster co-chaired the cookbook committee. Please enjoy this recipe from the cookbook:
WHISPERS
Whipers first appeared in "Fare by the Sea", the Junior League of Sarasota's 1983 cookbook. This magical after-dinner coffee drink was invented at the Whispering Sands Inn, once located on Siesta Key. Although the Inn is long gone, the recipe was shared with the founders of the Field Club, a favorite Sarasota location, and has been a specialty of the club ever since.
1 quart coffee ice cream
1/2 ounce brandy
1/2 ounce cr?me de cocoa
Pack enough of the ice cream into a blender to fill three-fourths full. Add the brandy and liqueur and process until a liquid consistency. Pour the ice cream mixture into a freezer container and freeze until firm. Serve in small goblets.
