April 29 registration will begin for the Summer term of the Lifelong Learning Academy at USF-SM. To preview this summer's six- to eight-week course offerings visit LLA-SM.org. Registration can be completed in person or by mail (check or cash), or online at LLA-SM.org (credit card) beginning at midnight on April 29. Courses range from Native American beading to Opera Bel Canto; topic areas include business, sports, cultures, finance, health and well being, history, languages, literature, music, photography, studio arts, technology and writing.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, Christ Church was the host to many young children and their families at its annual All Church Carol Sing & Children’s Christmas Party. One of the church’s mission projects takes members of the congregation to Bradenton as “Reading Buddies” and this event celebrated all involved with a party full of singing, presents and Santa.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, the 14th Annual Observer Challenge kicked off with a pre-party at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center. Opponents were announced as attendees enjoyed cocktails, wine and hors d’oeuvres catered by Harry’s Continental Kitchen. Guests were also treated to a pro mixed doubles exhibition.

i9 Sports Manatee-Sarasota recently announced it will move its Lakewood Ranch location to the Premier Sports Campus at the start of the winter season, which begins Jan. 11.
