The 2013 Roser Community Church Concert Series continues its centennial year with Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. Founded in 1949, the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys is one of the longest-running, continuous arts groups in Sarasota. The group is comprised of a chorus and quartet that will be performing a four-part a cappella harmony – barbershop style. This year’s performance features the Easy Street and Old Guys Rule quartets. No tickets are required. Doors open one hour before the performance. Free-will offerings will be accepted. A Meet the Artists reception will immediately follow the concert at Relish Café and Marketplace. Cost is $5. Tickets will be available before each concert at the church.

The Lakewood Ranch High volleyball team captured its fourth straight district title with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-13 victory over Sarasota in the Class 7A-District 10 championship Oct. 23. Nicole Grant powered the Lady Mustangs with 12 kills, two blocks and eight digs. Layne Thompson added 11 kills and one block. Kaylee York recored seven kills, one block and nine digs. Courtney Rapp dished out 35 assists and had a block. Lakewood will play host to East Lake in a regional quarterfinal match Oct. 29. Sarasota will travel to Seminole for its regional quarterfinal.
