Dr. Ken Brummel-Smith, past president of the American Geriatrics Society, will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 201 Cocoanut Ave., Sarasota. Dr. Brummel-Smith offers candid and honest advice about how you can greatly enhance the work being done by your personal physician so that you can achieve optimal aging and maintain an independent lifestyle. The free talk is being held at the College of Medicine's Sarasota Regional Campus, 201 Cocoanut Ave., Sarasota. A reception begins at 5 p.m. and the talk starts at 6 p.m. Seating is limited. Mote’s 6th annual Party on the Pass invited attendees to celebrate for a cause on Saturday, April 19, at the Aquarium at Mote Marine Laboratory. The party benefitted Mote Marine Laboratory's hospitals for dolphins, whales and sea turtles.

Longboat Key residents and visitors began their Easter celebration with Mar Vista’s 26th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, at Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant. The children were split into two age groups to look for the colorful eggs, each containing a tasty treat or special surprise.
