The Glenridge Performing Arts Center presents Cynthia Sayer and Her Hot Jazz Trio, co-produced by South County Jazz Club and GPAC, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Glenridge Performing Arts Center. Cynthia Sayer, regarded as the top four string banjoist in the world, is back in Sarasota by popular demand, playing her unique style of swing and hot jazz. A member of Woody Allen’s jazz band for over 10 years, Sayer’s solo career has taken her well beyond her New Orleans roots to become a world renowned bandleader and guest artist. Her eclectic, swing-based repertoire showcases the surprising range and power of jazz banjo. Sayer is currently working on a new CD, ”Joy Ride,” which is expected to be released in the spring of 2012.
