The Fine Arts Society of Sarasota and The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall present public backstage tours at the Van Wezel beginning at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8. The tours are guided and offer a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Van Wezel. View the movable orchestra pit, dressing rooms, hydraulic lifts and the green room, where visiting performers relax between shows. In addition to the backstage tour, visitors have the unique opportunity to view most of the FASS Art Collection. The tours are offered at 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of each month, October through May. Tours begin in the main lobby of the Van Wezel and last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Cost is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Van Wezel box office or by calling the Charge It Line at 953-3368. Proceeds benefit the Van Wezel and the Fine Arts Society.
