As a starter to Selby Public Library's One Book/One Community program series and to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day, the library will be showing a Stephen E. Ambrose documentary directed by Steven Spielberg at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Selby Public Library. The 90-minute film covers the Pacific theater of World War II from Dec. 7, 1941 to Sept. 1945. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, this film will provide a historical background for upcoming discussions of Laura Hillenbrand’s book, "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption."

Dreams Are Free held its inaugural Food Truck Rally Wednesday, April 16. Families from both Dreams Are Free and St. Martha’s Catholic School celebrated the beginning of spring break with hot food from food trucks. The luncheon was a fundraiser for the school for students with special needs. “All of our families were able to join together,” says Dreams Are Free Principal Rebecca Shields. “This was really a community builder as well as a fundraiser.”
