As a starter to Selby Public Library's One Book/One Community program series and to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day, the library will be showing a Stephen E. Ambrose documentary directed by Steven Spielberg at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Selby Public Library. The 90-minute film covers the Pacific theater of World War II from Dec. 7, 1941 to Sept. 1945. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, this film will provide a historical background for upcoming discussions of Laura Hillenbrand’s book, "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption."

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
