As a starter to Selby Public Library's One Book/One Community program series and to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day, the library will be showing a Stephen E. Ambrose documentary directed by Steven Spielberg at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Selby Public Library. The 90-minute film covers the Pacific theater of World War II from Dec. 7, 1941 to Sept. 1945. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, this film will provide a historical background for upcoming discussions of Laura Hillenbrand’s book, "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption."

Artist Series Concerts awards six young pianists
Twelve young pianists participated in the annual competition hosted by Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota. A total of $22,500 was awarded to six winners.
