Acrylic Cafe: More Expressive with Joseph Melancon Acrylic, Intermediate/Advanced Thursdays Nov 15 – Dec 20, 2012; 9:30am-12:30pm (No class Nov 22) $180m/$210nm; Artist Demonstration: Nov 10, 2012, 1-4pm Free Two primary issues in painting are light and shape. Without the good use of them a painting can lack drama, emphasis and the well designed parts for a cohesive painting. Joseph will guide students toward making their paintings more organized and effective. In this course you will work in your chosen medium and subject. Bring reference photos or sketches. See Joseph demonstrate in each class his process of painting. He is generous with sharing what he knows about making a better painting and highly recommends the Masterson Wet Palette. www.josephmelancon.com

PHOTO GALLERY: 'The Three F's...Fables, Folktales and Fairy Tales'
Students in Marti Bhame's second-grade class, at Braden River Elementary, embodied fictional characters and brought their stories to life during their production of "The Three F's…Fables, Folktales and Fairy Tales," April 17. The students performed three bite-sized renditions of "The Grasshopper and the Ant," "Dinerella" — "Cinderella" with dinosaurs — and "Stone Soup." Each mini play represented a different type of story to coincide with fairy tale and other story-themed curriculum Bhame has been teaching.
