Opportunity knocks at All Angels sale

Dozens of shoppers took the opportunity March 6 to turn out for the Opportunity Sale at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church. Shoppers sifted through a wide choice of items that were for sale. The clothing racks were packed, as always, and there were a lot of browsers in the electronics section. Homemade cookies, cakes and bread sold quickly. Although some early birds did turn out for the sale, traffic was steady throughout the day. -

More than 400 Little Leaguers were eager to get the Manatee County Cal Ripken Little League Baseball spring season under way March 6 after pouring rain kept them from enjoying their Opening Day celebration Feb. 27. Players from the league's 37 different teams hit the ballpark for their season-openers. For some, it was a chance to break out their bats and gloves that had been tucked away. For others, it was their first time playing baseball.
