Youth Fishing tourney postponed to Sunday

Organizers announced this morning the Youth Fishing Tournament scheduled for Saturday in Lakewood Ranch has been postponed to Sunday.

“They’re saying 70% of rain and thunderstorms,” said event organizer Lori Basilone. “We don’t want to take the chance.”

The tournament will go on as scheduled Feb. 28 with registration starting at 8:30 a.m., and the tournament lasting from 9-11 a.m. Fishing activities will be followed by lunch and an awards ceremony.

The event is being hosted by Lakewood Ranch Community Activities and the Lakewood Ranch Anglers Club.
Tournament-day registration costs $10 per angler. The event is still being held at Summerfield Lake, which is located at the end of Summerfield Parkway and Heron’s Nest in Lakewood Ranch.
