Friday, Dec. 9 to Sunday, Dec. 11

Observer Challenge Tennis Tournament

Preliminary rounds take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. Semifinals and finals take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11. All matches take place at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center, 590 Bay Isles Road. Take in some friendly competition over the weekend and watch fellow Longboat residents compete in the annual tennis tournament. Call 316-8367 for more information.

 

Ocean Conservation Film Festival

Takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s WAVE Center, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway. The event kicks off the 2016 Youth Ocean Conservation Summit. The evening will feature a variety of short films highlighting ocean conservation and a special presentation of “Songs and Stories from our National Parks!” The event is free with limited seating. Saturday, Dec. 10

Suddenly You’re in Command

Takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Flotilla 18 Building in Bray Park, 5801 33rd Ave. Drive W., Bradenton. Anna Maria Island USCG Auxiliary is hosting a class on what to do if you suddenly find yourself in command of a boat you are a passenger on. Porsches in the Park

Takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Armands Circle Park. Suncoast Motorsports is hosting the 12th annual event that will bring Porsches from all over Florida to St. Armands. The event is free. To reserve a spot to have your Porsche put on display, call Margharita Komyati at 921-8007.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 13

Longboat Key Democratic Club

Meets at 11:30 a.m. at the Portofino Restaurant of the Longboat Key Club, 2600 Harbourside Drive. David L. Barkey, the Anti-Defamation League’s Southeastern Area Counsel and National Religious Freedom Counsel will discuss “Hate Crimes: Elements, Impact and Offenders.” Cost is $30. Thursday, Dec. 15

Holiday Business After Hours

Takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harry’s Continental Kitchens, 525 St. Judes Drive. Get in the holiday spirit while networking with fellow chamber members. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and door prizes. The event is open to chamber members and their guests and business associates. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for guests. Movement, Muscles and More

Lord’s Warehouse

Duplicate Bridge

Wonderful Wednesdays Book Sales
