LOOKING AHEAD

Taste of the Keys and Fashion Show

What: Enjoy food from local restaurants and drinks from local “celebrities.” The fashion show will feature clothing from J.McLaughlin. Circus Ring of Fame — Takes place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Armands Circle Park. The 29th annual event will honor those who have made a significant contribution to the circus. Call 388-1554.

 

Monday, Jan. 11

Bingo Ice Cream Party — Takes place at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road. Enjoy an evening of bingo, food and beverages. Cash prizes will be rewarded. Admission is $25 and includes one free card per game. Call 383-3428.

Longboat Key Democratic Club — Takes place at 11:30 a.m. at Portofino Restaurant, 2600 Harbourside Drive. Rob Laurie, a public radio broadcaster in Tampa, and Edward James III, who is running for the Florida House of Representatives District 72, will speak. Cost is $25. Call 383-4899.

Classic Antique Car Show — Takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Armands Circle Park. View classic and antique automobiles in this annual event. Call 388-1554.

Republican Club of Longboat Key — Takes place at 5:30 p.m. at the Longboat Key Club John Ringling Room, 220 Sands Point Road. Retired Col. Derek Harvey, of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, will speak. Cost is $40 for members; $50 for nonmembers. Call 383-5349.

 

Thursday, Jan. 21

Historical Society Lecture — Takes place at 7 p.m. at Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian, 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Longboat Key Center for the Arts Habatat Galleries Opening ­— takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, 6860 Longboat Drive S. The exhibition will feature contemporary glass art from 21 artists. Call 383-2345.

St. Armands Winter Art Festival — More than 175 artists in the areas of pottery, oil, watercolor, ceramics, jewelry and sculpture will display and sell their original artwork. Call 388-1554.
