Saturday, Dec. 17

Breakfast with Santa

Starts at 8 a.m. at the Old Salty Dog, City Island location, 1601 Ken Thompson Parkway. Adults can enjoy a bloody mary bar while kids visit the hot cocoa bar. There will be crafts and other activities. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will pose for photos. Call 388-4311.

 

Thursday, Dec. 15

Holiday Business After Hours

Takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harry’s Continental Kitchens, 525 St. Judes Drive. Get in the holiday spirit while networking with fellow chamber members. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and door prizes. The event is open to Chamber members, guests and business associates. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for guests. RSVP to 383-2466.

 

Saturday, Dec. 17

Santa Jaws

Takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway. Mote visitors can pose with Gilly the Shark dressed as Santa Jaws for holiday photos. Visiting with Santa Jaws is included in admission. For more information, call 388-4441.

 

Sunday, Dec. 18

Handel’s Messiah

Takes place at Christ Church of Longboat Key’s 10 a.m. service, 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive. A live orchestra will be performing the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah.” Call 383-8833 with questions.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 20

Sandpiper’s Meeting

Takes place at 11:30 a.m. at All Angels by the Sea Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Parkway. The Sandpipers’ monthly meeting will feature guest speaker Marcy Gobell, who will reflect on her life as a nun. Call 383-8161.

Movement, Muscles and More

Takes place from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Aging in Paradise Resource Center, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. This full-body workout taught by personal trainer Ann Alvis incorporates balance, stretching and strengthening. Cost is $8. RSVP to [email protected] or by phone 383-6493.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays  

Lord’s Warehouse

Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the south end of the Longboat Island Chapel campus behind the parking lot, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Gently used women’s and men’s clothing, accessories and home goods will be sold. Call 610-301-2796 or 383-6491.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

Duplicate Bridge

Takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Participate in American Contract Bridge League open pairs duplicate bridge games. Cost is $10 per game. Call Susan Brill at 216-9600 for more information.

Wonderful Wednesdays Book Sales

Take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Longboat Library, 555 Bay Isles Road. Gently used books will be discounted by 50%. Paperbacks will be 25 cents, and hardback books will be 50 cents to $2.50. Call 383-2011.

Rotary Club of Longboat Key

Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key

Beginner Zumba
