Mary Lou Johnson signed copies of her new book, “The Lure of Longboat Key — Sunrise to Sunset,” Nov. 10, at Garden Argosy on St. Armands Circle. Johnson will hold another book signing from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Saks Fifth Avenue, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Longboat Key Garden Club Van Wezel tour.
The Longboat Key Garden Club checked out the backstage area of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall during an Oct. 31 field trip. The group enjoyed lunch at Caragiulos Italian-American Restaurant after the tour.

The club held its Halloween party Oct. 30, at the home of Teena Kantor.

Longboat Island Chapel.
Betty Jo and Fred Haas chat with Margaret Noble at the Longboat Island Chapel’s “Let’s Celebrate” event Sunday, Nov. 17, following the worship service. The event celebrated the return of the Rev. Vincent Carroll and his wife, Molly, who recently returned from Mackinac Island where he spent his final summer at the Little Stone Church, and it also celebrated an Island Chapel sanctuary renovation project. The Haases and Noble were major donors for the project.
