Woman dies in Ranch car accident

An elderly woman is dead after she failed to stop her vehicle at a stop sign and was struck by oncoming traffic.

Josephine J. Malenich, 85, of Tamarac, died around 10:55 a.m., this morning at the intersection of Post Boulevard and State Road 70, a Florida Highway Patrol report states. It is the first fatality at the intersection.

According to the report, a 2004 Ford SUV driven by Joanne Klinetop, 55, of Phoenix, N.Y., was heading westbound on S.R. 70 when Malenich pulled her 2000 Honda onto the roadway from Post Boulevard after failing to stop at a stop sign.

The front of Klinetop’s SUV struck the left front of Malenich’s vehicle, causing Klinetop’s SUV to rotate counter-clockwise before coming to a final rest facing in a southbound directionont he south shoulder of S.R. 70.

Malenich’s vehicle traveled into the south shoulder, coming to a final rest facing northward.

Klinetop suffered minor injuries. Damage to her vehicle was about $9,000.
