Whitney Beach overlay amendment adopted

The Longboat Key Town Commission approved a Comprehensive Plan amendment that will allow for the adoption of a Whitney Beach overlay.

The vote took place during a special meeting held before today’s regular workshop to give the public additional notice of the action.

A developer would be required to go through the outline-development plan and site-plan amendment process to use the overlay.

The overlay encompasses seven properties and provides a tool for mixed-use by allowing uses to be moved around. No one use could exceed 80% of lot coverage, and residential comprising no more than 30% of the total site.
